Project description

Animal welfare is playing an increasingly important role in calf rearing. Fresh air is one of the decisive factors for successful rearing. In order to improve the climate in the barn and animal health, the customer decided to improve the ventilation in his calf barn with an active ventilation system from HUESKER. The existing stable building was a classic old building. It was, therefore, not possible to create natural ventilation options without completely remodeling the barn. After expert advice from Dahme farmers' co-operative eG, which implemented the project together with HUESKER, the customer opted for active ventilation with a customised and needs-based Lubratec Tube Air hose ventilation system.

Solutions

As the creation of natural ventilation options would have entailed considerable structural and financial expense, the installation of the Lubratec Tube Air hose ventilation system was an efficient alternative. The system provides the animals with an optimum supply of fresh air, around the clock, without creating draughts. Lubratec Tube Air ensures a permanent exchange of air directly at the calf. The even air distribution is guaranteed by the precisely calculated perforation of the ventilation tube, which is adapted to the structural conditions. The calves remain healthy as the air is germ-free, rich in oxygen and free from harmful gases.
Statement from the customer:
"The air in the barn has improved significantly. Respiratory diseases requiring treatment have almost completely disappeared after the installation. The calves are mobile and make a good and happy impression. Daily weight gains have also increased from 800g to more than 950g since the active ventilation system was installed."

Benefits

  • Continuous fresh air, even in old barns with little air intake and exhaust area
  • Healthier calves thanks to germ-free air: prevention of respiratory diseases and infections, general relief of the immune system, therefore generally lower treatment costs and higher daily weight gains
  • Improved animal welfare: more robust, vital and balanced animals
  • Stress-free and effective rearing
  • Low energy consumption of the system
  • Customised calculation and design depending on the barn and structural requirements
  • Ideally suited for old buildings with low room heights and little window space
